Sensorama and Fynd Reality Partner to Elevate XR Training for Ukrainian Armed Forces

Ukrainian immersive training development company Sensorama and Norwegian XR company Fynd Reality are collaborating to provide the Ukrainian Armed Forces with next-generation XR training.

As part of this partnership, Sensorama will develop realistic training scenarios for Leopard 1A tank and M113 armored vehicle using the Fynd Reality platform.

Fynd Reality’s existing Leopard 2 XR training is already in operational use by the Military Institute for Tank Troops of the National Technical University “Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute”.

The collaboration combines the Tank Institute’s expertise, Sensorama’s content development, and Fynd Reality’s immersive platform, powered by Varjo hardware, enabling soldiers to train safely, efficiently, and with unmatched realism.

Technology is addressing a major challenge: when operational vehicles are fully engaged on the front lines, access to them for training is limited, making it difficult for soldiers to become familiar with vehicle procedures and maintenance. XR training allows personnel to train safely, efficiently, and remotely, ensuring readiness before deployment.

The project involves scanning real vehicles in Ukraine to create highly accurate virtual replicas that reflect actual operational conditions and support realistic training scenarios.

The training includes the role of gunner, driver, tank commander and loader. Students note the realistic appearance of the virtual tank and the fact that its functionality matches real-life operation.

The platform UI is very intuitive and accurately reflects how the vehicle operates.

Ihor Barkatov, Head of the Scientific Research Laboratory at the MIAF NTU “KhPI”, highlighted the significance of modern training methods: “By integrating XR technology into our programs, we are introducing innovative methods that combine hands-on experience with procedural knowledge. This approach accelerates learning, builds confidence, and ensures that Ukrainian soldiers are fully prepared for frontline deployment.”

The contract is executed with financial support from the Norwegian Defense Material Agency (NDMA) that represents a key example of Norwegian–Ukrainian cooperation in defense technology and highlights Norway’s continued support for Ukraine’s defense forces.

“This partnership leverages Sensorama’s content expertise and Fynd Reality’s advanced platform to provide operationally relevant training under challenging conditions,” said Sergii Tereschenko, CEO of Sensorama.

Knut Henrik Aas, CEO of Fynd Reality, added: “Our platform enables Ukrainian soldiers to train effectively even when access to real vehicles is limited. Partnering with Ukrainian company Sensorama allows us to rapidly build new training scenarios for Leopard 1A and M113.”

The XR training scenarios will be delivered via the Fynd CORE platform, supporting multi-user, scenario-based training. Soldiers can practice familiarization, maintenance, and procedural tasks even when physical access to vehicles is impossible.
